Good people, good music, good vibrations!!!

Technics & BiskitDo you remember how you felt back in the day when you waited for Mike Tyson to knock out everybody he faced.  He was just so far ahead of everybody back then.  Well in Baltimore the "Good Vibrations" party at Street Folks is Mike Tyson right now.  If you don't understand what I am saying to you then listen to the names of all the local House music celebrities that were in the house for this "Good Vibrations" anniversary party.  Of course the BBC crew, but Jason Papillon(Soul Providers), Thommy Davis, Teddy Douglass(one of the dj's), dj Technics(another dj), dj Karizma, and KW Griff(opening dj) was also there to name a few.  Then after I put the damn camera away at 2:30am I see the legendary dj/club owner Wayne Davis.  This night also had the most people I've seen at this monthly party and there wasn't even a bathroom crisis☺.  Ok, now some history.  Some said House music was dead in Baltimore (and it might have if dj Oji & Pope hadn't kept it afloat on the radio for all those years) but dj Technics and dj Biskit knew that this was not the case and set out to prove it.  They first started this party at the downtown club Gallery 405 on Charles street but that didn't work out too well so they found a new home in the NW corridor of Baltimore county @ the Street Folks cafe on Liberty road.  Of course the nay sayers would probably say "It's too narrow", "It has a carpeted floor", or "It only has one bathroom" but somebody had to believe.  These believers would be DJ's Biskit and Technics.  They took the approach that if you build it they would come.  It has everything.  Beautiful people, good music, damn good dancers, and good vibrations.  Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot the free food and bottled water that is served.  I thought I was the only one who believed that "the natives were restless" after the "Underground Experience" went away from the radio.  I have been to just about every Good Vibrations party and can tell you that dj Biskit has built his following the good old fashion way.  The party has spread through emails, word of mouth, and a couple of radio mentions, and maybe a little from the blackbookscafe.com.  Just a little(lol).  The party was special when it had 40 people and still hasn't lost its charm with a few hundred.  The vibe is so special that non-House heads show up for this party just to say they were there...I see 'em.  Almost all the top local celebrity dj's have enjoyed playing including all 4 of the past and current Basement Boy djs(Spen, Teddy D., Karizma, Thommy Davis), dj Oji of POJI records & the "Underground Experience", dj's Technics, KW Griff, and dj Biskit.  At this anniversary party it seemed like everybody who ever came to this monthly party showed up.  I got there too late to hear KW but DJ Technics and Teddy Douglass ripped the hell out of their sets.  dj Technics really impressed me on this night as I haven't heard him play since the 1st time I went to a "Good Vibrations" party. Teddy D & Thommy D On that night he played a vocal track that I have only heard twice in my life and can't even describe what it was, but it is the shizzznit!!!  Of course Teddy D rocked the house as I expected.....And for all you gossip mongers out there, there is only love between all the past and present Basement Boys and I got a picture to prove it.  I'm going to be the first to say it but I think somebody is going to make a "We lift our hands at the Good Vibrations" one day(LOL)---Just kidding.  The only regret I have is that I forgot to get a slice of the cake.    (You can catch the Basement Boys at the Sonar Lounge in May and dj Technics at Melba's Place on Thursdays.)
