Good people, good music, & Good Vibrations Well the Good Vibrations party arrived on Sunday night. This was a perfect topping for an end of weekend party, just before all the final cookouts took place. If you missed this one then you missed 3 DJ's who really prepared for this one and showed that they can play. I danced until I couldn't dance anymore. I'm usually one of the people who is still dancing when the lights come on, but I was laying down when Biskit threw on that new Karizma track which is sure to be a hit. All the resident dj's did their thing with new music and classics for everybody. The birthday boy(Technics) had my legs needing an IV of fluids(lol). Thanks for playing that version of Ten City's "That's the way love is".
I just want to say that although I've been to a lot of places, I am a Baltimorean in every way. I am far from "country". I got all my education and career experience here. I got most of my partying experience in Baltimore. When ever I go to any other city to party I fit in with the best House headz. Other than the 6-10 million person NYC or Chicago, I can't think of another place in the US where the party people are consistently more energetic than the Bmore headz. I am talking about a club full of House lovers not drinkers and lounge types mixed in. I am so sick of people not giving us the credit we deserve as far as our House dj's and people are concerned. Every time we have a party full of people with the real House music dj's, the energy is fanatic. DJ Oji's performance at the Red Maple 2 weeks ago was testament to that. I am sure NYC's Timmy Regisford is an incredible dj, but New York also has Baltimore's DJ Spen and Teddy Douglass dj'ing in that city. Karizma goes to Chicago a few times each month to tear shit up. So when is somebody gonna' say we got it goin' on, other than us. No one!...and that's why I love DJ Technics statement "we are all we got". If we had a big party at the WMC in 2004 with Spen, Karizma, Oji, etc, Jasper St. Company, Neal Conway's band, POJI family, and a few of our D.C. cousins, we would turn that conference out. The reason that I know this is because I heard two of the more respected NYC dj's/producers play in Miami at this years WMC and It was nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary.
Once again...thanks to all the House headz that I can remember who came out to support our scene this weekend: (Torell, David & April, Tradawn & Derrick & Daryl Brunson, Keith, Kenda Bell(BBC literature editor) & friend, Jason Din, Davon McCoy, Ivy, Mark Multrie, Martina, Tony, Craig, Mark, Lyn, Drea(welcome back to your roots), David Greenwood(Inner Corner Band), Jeff & Sharnette, Carolyn Victorian, Kevin, Leslie, Lindell, Willy, Daryl, Ty, Tracy, Dawn, Lisa, Basse aka Rhonda, Loretta, Kat(meow), DJ Derrick, DJ Chuck, Henry Da Man, Cleo, Jason(JLee), Neal Conway, DJ Oji, Ryan Middleton, Pope, Karizma, Donny Burlin, Biskit, Technics, Maurice, KW Griff, Thommy Davis, DJ Neosoul(?), Dukeyman, Tony(Third World Sounds), Jason Papillon & Kim(elan' records), Good Vibrations crew(love that food), Mike(Street Folks owner), and all the faces I see but can't remember the names. To quote DJ Karizma "we love you and we need you". |
