Hump night @ Shorty's Martini bar

(1st & 3rd Wednesdays--3301 Foster Ave)

Ok Baltimore it's definitely official.  When little neighborhood bars & lounges like Shorty's Martini bar reaches out to the masses with deep & soulful House music, I think House is back.  In Fact, I can't remember a time in the history of the Baltimore House music scene where so many spots in town had a night that featured DJ's who play this music.  Shorty's is a nice cozy little lounge with a brick interior, eclectic art on the walls, and couches to lounge and chat.  They also have a pool table and a few TV's.  I found it kind of relaxing shooting a game of pool with Jason Lee(JLee) pumping soulful tracks like "Brand new Day" by Blaze(MAW).  For me it was a little too relaxing as I noticed that I drank an entire "Long Island Ice Tea" and I don't really drink that much.  I also found it very nice place to chill to as Jason and I talked over the fact that he would now be the 2nd resident dj for the Black Books Cafe.  Although his name is not a household name with some heads in B-more, he did grow up here and knows the history of this thing we call House.  DJ Oji even featured one of his mixes on the "Underground Experience".  You'll start to see more mixes from JLee in our House music page and you can check out some of his mixes at www.bmorehouse.com
