Deejay Michael Joyner the "Mixologist"
As blackbookscafe.com came online and started looking for interviews, there were two interviews that we really wanted to do. This is one of them. Michael Joyner is the dj that held the helm at the memorable Club Fantasy of the late 80's and very early 90's in Baltimore. This is the House dj that I associate with several changes in my younger adult life. It was a period of college life for me, a period where I got my first real job that paid my own bills, and a time of coming into my own as an adult in general. It was a time when House music was peaking.
This is a very good interview and a must hear for a lot of dj's and house heads in general. Mike revealed some of his dj secrets and gives praise to some of the folks trying to keep the scene alive today in the area. We had so much to talk about and reminisce on, that we didn't get it all in the interview. Like the time someone stole some of his records from the club. He even showed me some mixing techniques and we just played some jams of the past. So please enjoy one of this websites most sought after interviews to date and get to know what I can tell you is one real cool dude!!
