(a previous GV party) First of all I would like to thank all the Baltimore House headz who continually come out to support our scene. Now, because of my busy schedule and a desire to try to push out stories to keep those who are interested aware of the vibrant nature of our dance scene, I sometimes forget things. I received an email from a frequent visitor to the blackbookscafe.com which refreshed my recollection of a recent party which needs to be said. DJ Technics also played at the Good Vibrations party for the 4th of July and played an incredible set as well. While this website will never try to say who is the best or who better than someone else, I must add this addendum to the 4th of July story. DJ Technics needs to be recognized for his continual growth into a dj to be listened to and he pumps out some of the hottest mix cd’s around. What is special about that is that he owns a record store(Club Trax) and a lot of times gives his mix cd’s away for free at parties, with the play lists so House headz can buy the music; or at least be familiar with the artists. Some House purists will sometimes be a little skeptical about dj’s who’s style they may not be familiar with or who haven’t always played just House music. I myself can be guilty of this if a dj still associates themselves with “Baltimore Club” music. One thing for sure is DJ Technics has a lot of creativity when playing. I noticed this about a year ago at the first Good Vibrations party I ever went to where he played. After that he didn’t play for a while and I forgot about what I heard that night. This brotha’ will try not to play the same classics you are use to, and on the 4th he went where I didn’t think he could go. The same blazing energy that he puts in his mix cd’s came through and my linen shirt was drenched after he played. So, as our currently anonymous emailer reminded us, “…he started off with The classic “Gotta have House” and ended it with “Love’s got me high”. So I leave you with a line from “Love’s got me high” that describes how Technics made some feel…….”mmmh, this is some good ***t”.
(I'll try to bring you an interview soon as it is probably long overdue) |
